How to Create Elegant Valentine's Day Table Decorations

To create an elegant Valentine's table decor, I decided to go with pastel shades of pink while completely ditching the red color pallet. You don't have to go bold with vibrant reds to create a mesmerizing tablescape. Keeping it soft and using a pastel color palette is always soothing to the eyes. After all, who doesn’t love table decorations in pink and white for Valentine’s Day?

Table Decorations with Overflowing Runners for Valentine's Day

I had an image for my Valentine's table decor, so I just started looking for decorations to recreate the same in real life. I wanted the table runners overflowing the table to be in two different shades. After a lot of online searching, I finally selected these long linen runners in dusty rose and baby pink color, which will be touching the floor at both ends of the table. Before ordering the runners, I measured the diagonal length and the height of the table to order the right size of runners.

How to Make a Valentine's Day Centerpiece to Decorate Your Table

My Valentine's Day table decorations wouldn't be complete without a centerpiece, so I went with a white, pink, and pastel lavender colors rose flower arrangement. I was planning to make my flower arrangement since I wasn’t sure I’d be able to find one in the colors I was looking for. Luckily, I found this pre-made flower arrangement at Whole Foods when I picked up the flowers. It had plenty of pastel color roses in the floral centerpiece creating an interesting table decor that was perfect to go with the rest.

For a long time, I was eager to incorporate this new trend of a floral hoop wreath, and I felt Valentine's Day was the perfect opportunity to showcase this for my table decor. After searching, I found these on Ling’s Moment, which was compatible with my overall theme. You can also find these on Etsy and do a DIY. I didn’t have enough time to do a DIY, so I bought a ready-to-use hoop wreath.

Final Accents on the Valentine's Day Table

To add a little warmth, I always try to add a few different styles of candles to my table decorations, so I used some pink and silver log candles and candlesticks in the center of the table. I also added an individual floating tea light and a rose flower in an oversized wine glass for the plate settings. This turned out amazing and was a favorite décor element for everyone.

Valentine's Day Plate Settings for the Table

For my plate settings, I decided to decorate my table with white dinnerware and server ware only. First, I was thinking of going with light pink dinnerware, but when I looked at the overall table, I realized I had enough pink shades on the table and needed to break it up. Therefore, I went with white dinnerware and dusty rose placemats, which I found at Pier 1 Imports, to contrast the plate setting.

The table decorations were part of an Indian culinary express for Valentine's Day, so the menu was indeed Indian. For Indian food plate settings, there are always small bowls for serving curries. An American-style plate setting incorporates a cereal bowl or soup bowl, so I had to pick individual items to complete it. To make the plate setting compatible with Indian Cuisine, I used small dessert bowls instead of small bowls.

I also used the same dinnerware in my Christmas Table Setting post. As I mentioned, white dinnerware and server wares are the most versatile color you should have in your collection. It works well with most color settings and themes. When paired with themed key elements, the most basic white dinnerware can become part of any elegant table setting.

Enjoy and have fun creating your Valentine's Day table decorations. If you are into bold colors, go for it. If you prefer earthy-toned, that's perfectly fine as well. Your table decor is your way to express yourself. Think of it as gratitude to your guests for joining them to celebrate.
