I'm excited to share that I'm orchestrating a Creative Experiment & Treasure Hunt in Missoula this summer. In 20+ locations around town, you'll spot this flyer. Each flyer's QR Code leads to a unique creative prompt inspired by that space, from the Free Cycles tire dome to the Missoula Art Museum, and the parks and haunts in between.Far-flung friends, this also means that all the prompts are available online at steintaylor.com, so please check it out and send me your writing/doodles/whittles/photos/collages/etc.Come Sept 1st, submissions will close and I'll compile an anthology zine with as much creative goodness as I can possibly fit, so don't be shy.*This Treasure Hunt is part of my new monthly snail mailings. If you'd like to join the Wonder-Gizmos, a Creative Writing Club and Whimsy Machine, and receive writing prompts, readings and some adorable absurdly to shake up your creative practice and brighten your day, please sign up through my Patreon, also on my website.**Happy writin', huntin' and boppin' around Missoula, y'all!*Or do be shy, there are no rules in the Gizmos. Feel free to use a pen name or send your work to me with a disclaimer.**Wonder-Gizmos is not responsible for any raptures or slippages created between "real" and "fantasy" worlds, supernatural or benign, et. al. during the course of Gizmos activities. Please be careful, as we cannot cover any injuries sustained in alternate timelines. We wish we could, but our insurance is crap. We can offer glow-in-the-dark band-aids.

Tonight at the library from 5-7, we're hosting an interactive gallery opening event! Free Verse Teachers and Certified Herbalists, Bonita Pernot and Agate Gamble, will facilitate a writing workshop, we'll listen to the songs bursting out of the Pine Hills Correctional Facility, and read student work and excerpts from the community poem we create during the event. Please join us as we bring the voices of Montana's incarcerated youth back into our community and write and reflect together. You will return home with grief herbs for tea, tincture, or pouch and your favorite prompts of the evening, so you can continue the conversation with loved ones. We can't wait to see you there!

I can't believe This Gift I Still Have, an exhibition of art and poetry by Montana’s incarcerated youth and the teens of Youth Homes, has come to a close. Thank you to Nathaniel Freeman at UM Western for seeing the opportunity to turn our Zines into a show and for bringing the kids' voices into the gallery in such a remarkable way. Thank you also to Montana Public Radio's Tom Berich for having Nicole Gomez and me on Front Row Center, to Youth Homes, to Free Verse Writing Project, to Cody Harris, and to the artists that blew us away. The Zines are available at bookstores around Missoula and can be downloaded for free at Free Verse's website. Finally, in case you missed it, here’s a 360 view of the gallery:
