The world is undergoing an energy transition right now, fueled by the development and deployment of new clean energy technologies. The pace of innovation at the heart of this transition is happening faster than many people (including me!) dared hope. The progress makes me optimistic about the future—and excited about the role that American communities will play, especially in places like Texas. Breakthrough Energy and I have invested more than $130 million into Texas-based entrepreneurs, institutions, and projects. It’s a big bet, but it’s one I’m confident in.https://lnkd.in/e2RcZ-RP

Very interesting article by Bessemer Venture Partners about their position and view on the #Climate and #Energysoftware (Start-up)-market. Happy to see our portfolio company enspired also mentioned. What I really loved was: Rely on commercial rather than regulatory drivers! But there were some more good take aways for me:1. Role of Software in the Green Transition: While hardware solutions like solar panels and EVs are crucial, software will play a significant role in the green transition. Software will optimize the value chain and make the most of these physical energy assets, enabling a more efficient and sustainable energy ecosystem.2. Market Growth and Drivers: The renewable energy market is rapidly expanding. Factors driving this transition include the declining costs of solar and wind energy, alignment of business and investment models with commercial drivers, increasing digitization enabling new energy applications, and supportive legislation in regions like the US and Europe.3. Interesting areas to invest: Bessemer Venture Partners emphasizes the importance of building asset-light, capital-efficient businesses in the climate and energy software domain
