Ghughra Sandwich Recipe | Double Cheese Sandwich – Gujarati Street Style with step-by-step photo and video recipe. Sandwich recipes are not native to Indian cuisine but have been embraced by every follower of Indian cuisine. It may have been introduced with a simple vegetable or meat slices stuffing in India, but has adapted significantly to the local taste buds. One such hugely popular street food sandwich recipe is Ghughra Sandwich Recipe known for its lip-smacking spicy stuffing.
As I was explaining earlier, this is an instant and quick sandwich recipe with minimal stuffing. Unlike the traditional vegetable sandwich where vegetables are sliced and placed in between the bread slices, this follows a different way. Basically, the diced or finely chopped onions and capsicum is mixed together with spice mix powders like cumin, chaat masala and pepper. In addition, it is loaded with coriander leaves herb making it flavoured stuffing masala. To top it up the cheese grate is added in between the bread and also on top of the bread. Finally, it is grilled in a hand grill toaster which is grilled on top of a gas stove. This not gives a smoky flavour but also gives a unique shape to it. It is consumed as it is but can also be served with a tomato ketchup topping depending upon individual taste and preference.
Furthermore, some more additional tips, suggestions and variations to the Double Cheese Sandwich. Firstly, I am a big fan of white or brown bread and these types of street sandwiches are ideally prepared with such types of bread. However, if you wish to you can prepare it with other types of bread like sourdough, multi-grain etc. Secondly, the Indian street food sandwich recipes are typically prepared in a hand toaster grilled over a gas stove. This helps to give that unique and packed shape. However, if you do not have it, you may use an electric grill or toaster too. Lastly, this sandwich is loaded with cheese and you would enjoy it if it is served instantly after it is prepared. Perhaps, you could delay the grilling process if you wish to serve it later.
